Dr Alex Kwaan
Dr. Alex Kwaan BDS (USyd)
Dr Alex Kwaan graduated from the University of Sydney in 2004 and commenced his career as a Dental Officer with the Royal Australian Air Force and various family dental practices in Queensland and Victoria. In 2008, he relocated back to Sydney and settled in YOUR DENTAL CARE TEAM at North Strathfield ever since.
Dr Alex enjoys all aspects of dentistry. He is dedicated to providing the best possible treatment for his patients which has led him to pursue further education including a mini-residency in Orthodontics and more recently a Graduate Diploma in Oral Implants with Charles Sturt University. He is also passionate about minor oral surgery (including wisdom teeth removal), root canals, children’s dentistry and patient education. His warm and gentle manner means that his patients will have a relaxing and enjoyable visit.
When he is not looking into a patient’s mouth, Dr Alex can be found cycling with his 4 kids or napping.
Dr Julia Hu
Dr. Julia Hu BDSc (Melb)
Dr Julia Hu graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2009 with Honours. She loves all aspects of family dentistry, specialising in cosmetics and orthodontics to create beautiful, lasting smiles. In addition to completing a 2 year mini-residency in Orthodontics, Dr Julia is also a certified Myobrace provider.
Dr Julia believes effective communication is the key to a pleasant and pain-free experience and is vital in order for her to provide individualised care to each of her patients at YOUR DENTAL CARE TEAM. In order to ensure that she provides the best care to all her patients, she has also undertaken numerous continuing education courses.
She used to enjoy high tea, playing Angry Birds, and romantic walks by the beach, but now she enjoys looking after her son Christian and daughter Evie.
Dr Natsumi Iwashima
Dr. Natsumi Iwashima BDent Hons (USyd)
Dr Natsumi Iwashima graduated from the University of Sydney in 2009 with Honours. Since then she has worked in several private practices around Sydney until she joined YOUR DENTAL CARE TEAM where enjoys looking after patients with the rest of the team.
Dr Natsumi is passionate about preventive health care and maintaining good oral health for her patients and restoring teeth in the optimal way for each patient. She prides herself in producing quality work and loves getting to know her patients and their families.
Dr Natsumi enjoys playing various sports including basketball and tennis, eating tasty food and hanging out with her young children.
Dr. Sam Lin
Dr. Sam Lin BDS (Cairns, JCU)
Dr Sam Lin is one of our senior dentists at YOUR DENTAL CARE TEAM. He graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in Far North Queensland (Cairns, JCU).
Together with his studies, Dr Sam has worked in many regional areas across Australia – from the cooler climate of Launceston to the red desert of Alice Springs. His last 4 years have been spent in Tamworth, NSW before finally relocating back home to Sydney.
Dr Sam has undertaken significant professional development with a Post Graduate Diploma in Implantology (The Implant Institute, Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology) as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Dentofacial Orthopaedics with renowned orthodontist, Dr Derek Mahoney (City of London Dental School). Apart from surgery and orthodontic treatment, Dr Sam also has a strong focus on cosmetic and restorative dentistry – always staying up to date with modern technology and materials used in contemporary dentistry.
Outside of work, he can be found fishing, in the gym or hiking. He is also quite passionate about motorsports, cooking and tending to his aviary.
Shadi Essam
Shadi Essam BOH (UON) BSc (USyd)
Before graduating from a Bachelor of Oral Health with Distinction, Shadi had completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Sydney and worked as a dental assistant at YOUR DENTAL CARE TEAM.
Shadi believes passionately that oral health is an integral part of general health, and healthy choices made by individual and families can contribute to their overall wellbeing and quality of life. She believes that healthy eating and drinking, as well as regular visits to the dentist, can prevent her patients from many unnecessary oral conditions.
In her spare time, Shadi enjoys listening to music and going to concerts. She also loves watching sports, especially soccer. Currently, she is teaching herself the drums and enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.
